Growing up knowing that your parents are addicted to drugs having to always wonder in the back of your mind if they will live another day is rough. Seeing this at any age would he traumatizing. She would drawer open and see the utensils that her mom and dad used the drugs with. Liz would know exactly when her parents uuould be doing drugs. She understood that her parents were poor and seemed okay with this. For any kid that age especially when hey see other kids with the nice new flashy outfits or a neat pair of shoes it makes them sad. haircut or new shoes for school that she would be wearing the same clothes over and over. She would EO to school dirty and filthy In the book Breaking Night she explains that while all the other kids would get new clothes. Liz did not have water so since she did not shower she would be dirty. Her parents would never have money for food and they would always eat the same thing over and over. She would rarely have food and as a kid that. Going through all the hardships and staying positive is remarkable in the situations she was put in, Liz grew up in a ery poor family. Most young kids can’t take care of themselves yet alone their parents but she had the drive and motivation for this task. She was very mature young in which she had to be. Liz was a very determined girl and knew she would someday succeed. watching her parent’s abuse drugs and wanting e better life.
